Successful Irrigation Season Comes to a Close

We would like to acknowledge our team and maintenance crews for ensuring a successful season, from planning to daily monitoring.

We’d also like to extend our gratitude to Yuba Water Agency.  Their generous support has allowed NYWD to undertake significant upgrades to our infrastructure, enabling us to deliver water to our customers more effectively.

Lastly, we are proud to know that our community benefited from reliable access to irrigation water this season. We look forward to reviewing this year’s performance and discussing opportunities for improvement and expansion in the future.

Canal Stabilization Project

Our crews have been hard at work this fall working on NWYD’s canal stabilization project.  The project involves lining 10,850 feet of canal to reduce water loss and improve water delivery reliability to residents in Brownsville, Forbestown, Dobbins and Oregon House.

Workers smoothing wet concrete in a dirt pathway surrounded by trees, with a partly cloudy sky.

Recently, the crew applied shotcrete to about 5,200 linear feet of the Dobbins Oregon House Canal, stabilizing the canal and helping reduce water loss in the 02 section.

This fall project includes approximately 2 miles of canal stabilization and water-loss mitigation between the Upper Forbestown Ditch and the Dobbins Oregon House Canal. Follow us on Facebook for timely updates on the project.

Fire Hydrant Replacement Project

Exciting news! The North Yuba Water District Board of Directors recently approved the purchase and replacement of nine Fire hydrants that date back to 1960. Replacing the old hydrants will ensure the infrastructure remains dependable, efficient, and safe for both the community and emergency services.

Fire hydrants stacked on a flatbed truck in a forested area.

The new hydrants were recently delivered. Painting and installation are underway.
